Introduction This report describes the UI/UX development process of the "Banyumu" application designed for use in vending machines. This application aims to address the problem of single-use plastic bottles and the lack of access to ready-to-drink beverages in some locations. The water provided in the vending machine comes from dew, making it more environmentally friendly. This report will detail the problems faced, recommended solutions, and steps in designing the UI/UX of the "Banyumu" application for vending machines.
I. Problem Analysis The use of single-use plastic bottles is an environmental problem that needs to be addressed. In addition, access to ready-to-drink beverages in some locations is minimal, and the water used comes from dew. In the "Banyumu" application, we want to create an experience where users can reduce the use of single-use plastic bottles by utilizing a practical water refill vending machine and providing information related to water education in the field of environment and health.
II. Determination of Objectives and Target Users
Objective: To build a vending machine application "Banyumu" that allows users to refill water practically and reduce the use of disposable plastic bottles.
Target User: Vending machine users who are concerned about the environment and health, and want to have easy access to water because production comes from dew.
III. UI/UX Research and Design
a. User Research:
Conduct surveys and interviews with vending machine users to understand their needs, preferences, and challenges they face regarding the use of water and single-use plastic bottles.
Analyzed trends in vending machine applications and environmental/health education to identify relevant features and content.
b. UI/UX design:
Produced initial sketches and wireframes showing the vending machine interface with hot, normal, and cold water options.
Implement a responsive design so that users can easily refill water using the app on their devices.
Include educational features about water in the app, including information about the benefits of dew water, the importance of the environment, and water-related health advisories.
IV. Implementation and Testing
Develop an interactive prototype of the "Banyumu" app using a suitable development platform.
Conduct internal and external testing to ensure optimal UI/UX, application functionality, and receive feedback from users regarding user experience and features.
V. Results and Conclusion
The "Banyumu" application provides a practical solution to reduce the use of disposable plastic bottles by providing a water refill vending machine.
Users can easily refill hot, normal, and cold water through a responsive and intuitive application.
Educational features about water provide added value and environmental and health awareness to users.
The "Banyumu" app is expected to promote the use of dew water and reduce the negative impact of single-use plastic bottles.
Conclusion This report has described the UI/UX development process of the "Banyumu" application for vending machines. In its development, we paid attention to the problem of single-use plastic bottles and the lack of access to ready-to-drink beverages by utilizing dewatered water. Through the "Banyumu" app, users can refill water easily, while getting information and education about the environment and health related to water. This report can be part of my portfolio as a UI/UX designer who wants to continue contributing in creating innovative solutions to environmental and health challenges.
